Zune HD2 Is On The Way

- Zune HD–Soon to be obsolete?
It looks like the Zune HD will be replaced by a predecessor later this year. According to a report on ZDNet, a Zune HD2 is coming, possibly as soon as late this year. The device is described as similar to an iPod Touch and will offer gaming from XNA Game Studio 4.0. Unfortunately for Zune HD users, it looks like your device will be cut out of the next version of the gaming platform.
New information on XNA Game Studio 4.0 indicates that the new tool suite will support a slew of Microsoft-based devices including PCs, Xbox 360 and Windows Phone 7 devices, bringing Xbox Live games into the picture for mobile devices. However, Zune HD is out of that mix and Microsoft will continue to support development for Zune games under XNA Game Studio 3.1. Developers are being encouraged to update their Studio 3.1 games for Windows Phone 7. [ZDNet via Gizmodo]

As much as I liked the Zune HD, I knew a better one was just around the corner. Keeping the pink brick, officially worth it.
