Xerox Buys Affiliate Computer Services for $6.4B – Imaging hardware giant Xerox has announced the purchase of Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) for $6.4 billion in cash and stock. This news comes a week after computer manufacturer Dell purchased Perot Systems, a rival to ACS. Xerox hopes to merge their imaging hardware sales with Affiliate Computer Services’ business services division, allowing for new direct sales opportunities and enhanced client service efficiency. Shares of Xerox dropped this morning on news of the merger, with investors concerned with the nearly $2B debt ACS is currently carrying, in addition to heavy costs of business integration.
