Wooden IPad Shelf Blends in Seamlessly With Your Room
By Chris Weiss
Finally an iPod dock that doesn’t look like a 1985 rendering of a futuristic boombox. This slim, sexy piece of wall furniture looks like an innocent shelf, save for the two little drivers on the side, which show that the Hohrizontal 51 from Finite Elemente is in fact an iPod dock. It even holds up to 55 lbs. and includes analog audio inputs for connecting a TV. That’s good because the iPod looks pretty lonely and ridiculous sitting on the shelf all alone.
The Hohrizontal 51 also includes a USB for connecting a computer and a remote control. It comes in a variety of colors, though the natural wood stain pictured is one of the only ones that doesn’t look majorly tacky.
The look is beautiful; the functionality is solid, but the price puts a damper on the whole package: $660. That’s a lot of money to pay for a slab of wood (we assume it’s actual wood for that price) and two tiny 25-Watt speakers. For that price, they could at least throw in a HDMI or digital audio connect. [Finite Elemente via Dvice]
