Wink Glasses Keep You Blinking on All-Night Game Binges
Jul 31, 2009 - By Chris Weiss
If you’re the type that measures his time on the computer or in front of a gaming console in days rather than hours or minutes, here’s the fastest 150 bucks that you’ve ever seen. Wink Glasses, designed by Masunaga, monitor your eyes for blinking using a sensor attached to the lenses. If you don’t blink for five seconds, an ultra-thin liquid crystal sheet in front of the lens automatically fogs up and only clears after you’ve blinked. It corrects the blinking issue quickly, helping to prevent long-term vision issues. Of course, you’re less likely to blink when you’re at the most crucial part of the game, so you just know that fog is going to equate to a sudden, decisive GAME OVER. And the $150 Wink Glasses will soon be a shattered mess sitting amongst a pile of smashed controllers somewhere across the room. If you feel like risking it, and don’t mind a trip, they’ll be available in Japan on August 10. [via DVICE]
