Windows Mobile 7 Unveil Confirmed For Next Week
By Chris Weiss
The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that Microsoft will release its next mobile OS at Mobile World Congress on Monday. WinMo 7 will feature a new interface designed after the Zune. A key part of the new OS is that it will be more purposefully developed for the mobile phone hardware on which it will be featured. In other words, the software will be designed to work more smoothly with the hardware. Microsoft has put a hand in hardware design to boost the quality of WinMo phones.
The report also offers some details on the Pink phone, which will not be part of next week’s events. It says the phone is going to be the heir-apparent to the Motorola Sidekick and will be targeted at teenagers. A heavy focus will be on social networking. Manufactured by Sharp, Pink will be available through Verizon and Vodafone as early as this spring.
