What Are Apple’s Social Networking Plans?

Another day, another semi-exciting Apple rumor. Word is that iTunes 9 will be tied to a separate “social” application that Apple will release in the future. The concept is similar to Yahoo’s OneConnect, which ties all social networking services into one platform, but it’s not clear whether this is a desktop application, an iPhone application or something else entirely. It’ll also reportedly allow users to broadcast the the status of the music they’re listening to, along with the actual music itself — angering the music industry, no doubt. Of course, all of this is on the word of an anonymous source, so don’t go deleting your Facebook and Twitter bookmarks just yet. [via Boy Genius Report]
