iPhone 4 Wi Fi Fail1 Was Steve Jobs Wi Fi Problem Really an iPhone Problem?

On Monday, when Steve jobs fidgeted and floundered as the new iPhone 4 failed to connnect to the NY Times website, he repeatedly blamed the Wi-Fi in the building as the cause of his problem. Ars Technica reports today that it may not have been the Wi-Fi causing his trouble, at least not entirely. Two Wi-Fi experts consulted by the website agreed that there was an issue with the iPhone’s software that was partly to blame for the load failure. Seeing as how Jobs had no problems getting the iPhone 3GS that was there for comparison purposes to load, this explanation makes more sense than the Wi-Fi problems.

One of the analysts, Phil Kearney said: “My experience in the wireless space leads me to believe that there may be a bug in the firmware or the driver for the WiFi chip in the iPhone 4.”

So, in other words, Apple wasn’t quite prepared for its iPhone 4 unveiling. Whatever was to blame, it sure is fun to watch Jobs squirm on stage. He must have been hating every second of this:
