Verizon’s Droid Update Boosts Performance
By Chris Weiss
Despite a ton of press and a strong first couple of weeks, it hasn’t been all peaches for the Motorola Droid. The phone-that-saved-Motorola has experienced a few ticks including problems with the camera’s autofocus and substandard voice clarity. So earlier this week, Verizon rolled out a software update and will be sending it to Droids for another week or so at low usage times.
The Droid update features 14 upgrades altogether including fixes for the aforementioned camera autofocus problem, better audio, longer battery life and overall improvement of the operating system.
Analysts are praising the move, and it should certainly help to alleviate any user concerns and bad publicity over some of the early glitches. The tag line Droid Does remains cleanly intact. [via TopTechNews]

I applied the update and now my battery life seems to be much worse. Has anyone else experienced this?

Download the advanced task killer apparently. It dramatically increases battery life. And its free to boot.

Dumb question, but when driving ad using my bluetooth, voice dialing still requires me to look at the phone and "confirm" or pick the retrieved entry. Obviously, this requires taking your eyes off of the road. Is there a way for the phone to talk back and verbally confirm the request?
