Verizon iPhone Breaks Sales Record…In Two Hours

It should be a surprise to no one: the Verizon iPhone is a hit. What might be a surprise is just how fast it’s breaking records. The new Verizon iPhone 4 had more first-day sales than any other Verizon-based device in history. And it did it in two hours. In about as middle of middle of the night as it gets: 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. Supplies were out well before a lot of people get up in the morning.
That’s pretty impressive for the iPhone 4 and pretty depressing for every other phone that’s ever been launched on Verizon. The iPhone 4–an old phone that’s been out for more than seven months, and will soon be replaced–just kicked your ass in the most awkward two shopping hours of the day. Congrats for failing.
Today’s launch was aimed at pre-existing Verizon customers. Everyone else will get their chance next Thurday. [via Engadget]
