Verizon Customers to Get Free Wi-Fi Hotspots
By Jared Newman
Subscribers to Verizon’s home broadband will soon get a little extra Internet when they hit the road, with free access to Wi-Fi hotspots. The company is buying access to Boingo hotspots, which can be found at airports and other public places, on behalf of its customers. As is the custom with these paid communal Wi-Fi offerings, you’ve got to install a bit of software to make it work. The move is intended to compete with AT&T, which offers a similar deal around the United States, and Cablevision, which has a Wi-Fi network in the New York area. Dear Time Warner Cable, do this.
