Five investors have showed Twitter some love, throwing $100 million at the budding social messaging site. The list of investors includes heavyweight T. Rowe Price, along with Insight Venture Partners, a private equity firm. All told, Twitter’s valuation is said to be $1 billion. The big question remains how Twitter will monetize. So far, the service is offered free, and there are no plans to show ads this year. Twitter has focused on building its user base, which shot up 15-fold to 44.5 million accounts as of June, but with more money in the pot, it’s only a matter of time before investors start wondering about that business plan. Unless you’re one of those investors, all you have to worry about is your follower:following ratio. [via Yahoo Tech]
