TV Continues Its Move Online: HBO Go
By Chris Weiss
Today HBO pulled its HBO Go service out of private beta and into the greater Interwebs. The new service makes HBO content–specifically 600 hours of movies and series–available on the Web to its subscribers. Assuming you already get HBO or sister network Cinemax in your package, HBO Go is free of charge–or more accurately, additional charge. The content can be streamed live and in HD.
HBO Go is already available for Verizon FIOS customers. According to a Washington Post review, the selection isn’t that great, but it’s certainly better than what was there before if go-anywhere Internet content appeals to you more than television.
The new service should provide subscribers with access to newer titles than other streaming services like NetFlix. And if you already get HBO, it provides one more convenient option for viewing. [via CNET and Washington Post]
