If they wanted to spit out a traditional tablet, they would have done so years ago. If Apple does release a tablet device, it won't be a traditional tablet, it will instead redefine tablet computing and lead that market elsewhere. Not that it matters though. Tablets have a niche user-base and I doubt that tablet computers will ever gain serious market share. Apple is hardly punk'd.
