Things Not Look Gooding for NASA’s Return to the Moon
By Chris Weiss
Like so many other plans and promises made by our ol’ pal G. Dub, things aren’t looking good for the plan to get back to the moon by 2020, at least not according to the budgetary review ordered by President Obama. The review has found that the financial trains are running well off the rails and that NASA will need an extra $3 billion yearly on top of its $18 billion annual budget to keep get on track for the goal. The panel in charge of the review has called the current path toward the 2020 return plan “unsustainable” and has recommended several alternatives to right the ships including traveling to one of Mars’ moons, soliciting more help from foreign countries and pushing space exploration further into the private sector.
