Thermaltake’s BMW-Inspired Level 10 Case: Concept to Reality
By Jared Newman
When we last saw the Level 10 PC case from Thermaltake, it was but a concept on the floor of Cebit 2009. Now, the stunningly beautiful case, which was a joint collaboration between Thermaltake and BMW’s Designworks USA consulting firm, is totally real and unboxed by the folks at Maximum PC. Their jaws dropped at the hanging motherboard, PSU, optical drives and hard drives, attached to a massive upright panel that hold’s wow-inducing LED lights. The entire aluminum box idea on which most cases are built was thrown out the windows here, in favor of enclosures that seem custom-built for every component. An case this grandiose certainly isn’t discreet: The Level 10 case is over two feet high, one foot wide and two feet deep, and it weighs more than 47 pounds. The price? Also appropriately huge, at $700 when the case ships in mid-October. [Maximum PC via Engadget]
