Engadget Tablet 1 27 The Last Apple Tablet Rumor Well Ever Publish: New Pictures, Specs and Pricing

We had to suck it up on this one. With a tablet announcement coming tomorrow morning, speculation is all but useless and trite at this point. However, just for all you seething geeks that are spending a restless night parked at the computer for any late-breaking news, we decided to run with it.

In the wee hours of the morning, Engadget got its hands on new pictures that it believes to be a prototype tablet. The pictures are unconfirmed, of course, but may be an early glimpse of what Apple will be showing off in San Fran tomorrow.

Also with the pictures comes a little more information (mostly just rehashed information that mirrors what’s been said for months). According to Engadget’s tip, the tablet will feature a 10-inch screen (shocker!) and look like a larger iPhone with MacBook-style aluminum-backed casing–much like the description from last week. Pricing for the March release is said to be $800 with a Verizon contract or $1,000 without. The official name is still a mystery, but the tablet reportedly goes by the codename K48.

We’ll put these 11th hour rumors to rest along with all the others in a few short hours. [via Engadget]
