The iPhone 3G S, It Overheats
Jun 29, 2009 - By Jared Newman
Oh dear. Over 1 million people go out and buy the iPhone 3G S on launch weekend, and now we’re hearing about possible overheating problems. Anecdotally, lots of iPhone users — bloggers and commenters alike — are reporting that the handset is running hotter than expected. There’s also one apparent case of actual damage (seen above), in which a white phone discolored and became brownish pink on the rear. Prolonged GPS use and other hardware-intensive applications, such as music and gaming, may be the cause of these issues, but is Apple to blame? The company is staying mum, so we’ll have to wait and see whether a firmware update can cool things off. [via PC World and NoWhereElse]
