Like so many others in its class, the Aspire One runs on an Intel Atom N270 processor with Windows XP, 1 GB of RAM, an 160 GB hard drive, the Intel GSE945 chipset, built-in wireless and a 6-cell battery. There’s also a multi-memory card reader and three USB inputs. With such cookie-cutter specs, it mostly comes down to battery life and whether you like the computer’s look and feel. Just in time for the iPhone OS 3.0′s Bluetooth support, Woot’s offloading new Lubix NC1 Stereo Bluetooth Headsets for $20. Oddly, the headset still includes wires, but they serve a unique purpose: When not in use, the two earbuds can be joined together and worn like a pendant around the neck, using the wires as the necklace. The headset can also be paired with multiple devices, so you could listen to music on an iPod Touch and get notified through the earbuds of a call on your iPhone. As with any non-Apple MP3 player, comparisons to the iPod are inevitable. SanDisk’s Clip is, well, not as hip, but at $15, who cares? As the name suggests, you can clip this player onto your person, which is perfect for avoiding all the Taylor Swift and Avril Lavigne they play at the gym. The 2 GB player also includes an FM radio with 40 presets, a 1-inch LCD screen with four lines of info, voice recording, drag and drop file transfer, five equalizer modes and 15 hours of playback on an internal battery. It’s certainly possible to drop a few Benjamins on a compact digital camera, loaded with unnecessary features, but when it’s time to just take pictures, simplicity is king. That’s why the Canon PowerShot A480 is getting positive reviews despite its lack of frills and decidedly unstylish design. PCWorld says the A480 is “dead-simple,” while Photography blog calls it a “cheap, well-made, straight-forward compact camera.” It’s a 10-megapixel point-and-shoot with 3.3x optical zoom and a 2.5-inch LCD screen. The DIGIC III image processor offers face detection, motion detection and red-eye correction, along with 15 shooting modes, and that’s about it. The daily deal site is selling Pure Digital’s Mino 60-Minute Flip Camcorder, refurbished, for just $89.99 plus $5 shipping, compared to a new list price of $180. The camera uses a 1/4-inch VGA CMOS sensor to shoot 640 x 480 video at 30 frames per second. Files come out in MPEG-4 AVI format with a bitrate of 4 Mbps.
