While the rumors of an Apple Tablet release within the not-so-distant future are nothing new, analyst Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray is shedding some more light onto the highly-anticipated device. In a report based on some contacts with an Asian component supplier working with Apple, Munster provides some details on the device that is expected to launch next year: the tablet will be a larger 7 to 10-inch iPod Touch aimed at Web surfing, email and digital media; it will find a niche right between the MacBook and iPhone with a cost in the $500 to $700 range; and it will be subsidized by a major carrier like AT&T or Verizon and include a 3G modem–nothing too groundbreaking, but a little more credence to the speculation. Munster went on to estimate that at a $600 price point the tablet will sell two million units and bring in $1.2 billion for Apple. [via Wired]

Steve Jobs Approves Apple Tablet for 2010? – According to a report from Apple Insider, Steve Jobs has ok’d the production of the oft-rumored Apple Tablet. Apple Insider feels pretty confident about the truth to this rumor, as they have cited that these sources have a strong reputation “for their striking accuracy in Apple’s internal affairs.” Obviously, a tablet would be a logical next step for Apple, having pioneered the use of multi-touch in the tech market with the iPhone and iPod Touch. Beyond the rumors of Jobs’ approval of the Apple Tablet, some potential details about its specs are leaking out. The Apple Tablet is rumored to span 10″, a bit more than the 7-9″ discussed prior, and will possibly run on the Intel Atom processor. This would suggest that the Apple Tablet might also be the rumored Apple netbook that has been buzzed about all summer. So, Apple fans, are we excited?
