Ultimate Sith Edition of Star Wars The Force Unleashed 3

The team at LucasArt announced this weekend that the Ultimate Sith Edition for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is scheduled to release this fall for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac. Just in time for the holidays, the special new version is set to reveal the deepest and the darkest side of the Force in a story where Vader’s apprentice hunts down and battles Obi-Wan Kenobi, goes toe-to-toe with Boba Fett and even Luke Skywalker, himself. Apart from these new missions, the Ultimate Sith Edition will also pack all the original missions in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed along with content which used to be only available via download or at an all-new exclusive bonus level. Kudos to LucasArts for expanding a game that’s essentially a closed book and for bringing it to PC. [via Joystiq]

Video Game Sales See Highest Drop in Nine Years

Fight Night 4

Video Game Industry Feels the Heat of the Recession – It’s no secret that there’s a recession going on out there and every sector is feeling it. Video games, though, were supposed to stand tall against the recession. It makes sense: people are cutting back on all forms of outside entertainment, surely they’ll lock themselves up in their room with their XBOX, and maybe a big bottle of cheap grain liquor, and play until it appears clear to come out. However, that’s not the way it’s been going down and video game sales took a signficant downturn of 31 percent in June. That’s the largest single-month drop that sales have seen in nine years. Not good news. Potential good news: some in the industry are calling for cutting prices to counter the slumping sales.  [via PC Mag]
