T-Mobile G1 May Not Update Beyond Android 1.5

Sad news for early adopters: the T-Mobile G1, which debuted Googles Android operating system to the world, likely won’t update beyond Android 1.5. Developers have expressed concern that future updates simply won’t fit on the tiny amount of internal flash memory built into the phone, so it seems the G1 won’t be able to evolve with the OS. T-Mobile told Engadget it will “continue working with Google to introduce future software updates to the T-Mobile G1. Reports to the contrary are inaccurate,” but I’ve grown wary of carefully-worded press releases. There’s nothing in there to suggest we’ll see Android 2.0 come back to its birth mother. [via Engadget]
