Synaptics Fuse Concept Provides a Glimpse of Future Smartphones
By Chris Weiss
After touch and multi-touch became household words, you knew that there was a lot more that could be done under that glossy display, and Synaptics is here to give you an idea of exactly what that is.
The Synaptics Fuse concept, which was created in conjunction with TI, Immersion, TheAlloy and The Astonishing Tribe, adds a slew of extra sensors and 3D graphics to provide a new level of interactivity. The end result is that users are able to control the phone with just one hand. For instance, you can rub the back of the phone to scroll and squeeze the sides to change the screen view. There’s no need to keep your grimy, porky digit planted atop your display.

The Fuse will be on display at CES, but will be more of marketable technology than an upcoming product. Hopefully, mobile phone manufacturers will pick this up and start releasing the next level of touchscreen phones asap. [via Slash Gear]
