Suitcase Lock For Your USB Drive
By Chris Weiss
The tiny suitcase lock I once bought to lock the zippers of my luggage was about the 10 worst dollars I ever spent. I had that thing for about a day and then baggage inspectors destroyed it when checking my luggage. I might as well have just thrown that money in the airport trash, or spent it on something even more useless–like this USB security lock.
Like a luggage lock, the USB lock is a tiny little piece of hardware with a three-number combination that you use to protect your personal belongings. Only this one protects data as opposed to long johns. Another difference–it will be smashed to pieces by a devilish roommate looking to snoop into your business rather than a TSA inspector.
Judging by how many USB drives I’ve seen split in half, I can’t imagine it will take more than 30 seconds to crack this lock into two and have access to whatever dirty secret you’re storing on flash. But, it only costs six bucks, so there’s not much to lose. [via Dvice]
