Steve Jobs Speaks at Apple iPod Event
Sep 09, 2009 - By Jared Newman
Apple CEO Steve Jobs got a standing ovation when he took the stage at today’s iPod-themed event. This is his first public appearance since January, when he began a medical leave, though he actually returned to work at the end of June. On stage, Jobs acknowledged that he had a liver transplant in April, telling the crowd that he now has the liver of a 20 year-old who died in a car accident, thanking the donor for his generosity. Jobs then thanked the Apple community for its “heartfelt support,” along with Apple executives and particularly Tim Cook, who steered the ship while Jobs was away. And, true to form, Jobs is right down to business again. “So, I’m vertical, I’m back, I’m getting to work with our teams to come up with some great new products,” he said.
