apple ipad1 Sorry Europe, Apple Postpones International iPads

Apple issued a media advisory today stating that the international launch of the iPad will have to be pushed back a month. Apparently, despite stoking a raging bonfire o’ hype around the iPad for months, Apple was unprepared for the onslaught of buyers. Its iPad stash was raided so thoroughly that there just ain’t any iPads left to make the trip over U.S. borders. So the launch will get pushed back to the end of May with pre-orders commencing on Monday, May 10. International pricing will be announced that same day.

To these customers Apple offers: “We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason—the iPad is a runaway success in the US thus far.” In other words: ‘The iPad is awesome and people here in the U.S. are loving it tremendously. Hope that makes you feel better about having wait another month to get your hands on one.” [via Apple]
