Sony’s Stylish iPod Shelf System

A few steps up from the average iPod/iPhone dock, the Sony WHG-SLK1 shelf system made a quiet, unannounced debut in Las Vegas last week. We have to agree with Sony’s own classification of the merits of the device: “slim and stylish design blends into any environment”.
The system adds a 9-inch LCD display with touch-sensitive buttons to the mandatory left and right dock speakers, allowing for both video and audio applications.The unit further adds to your home entertainment system by delivering a built-in DVD player, knocking that old, standalone unit right out of the cabinet. It also includes a USB port, Memory Stick and SD card slots and video inputs and outputs. As far as docking, it provides 100 Watts of power.
This one looks to be quite an attractive iPod dock, assuming the price is right. Unfortunately, there’s no indication of what that price will be or when and where we’ll see the WHG-SLK1 surface. [Sony Insider via Engadget]
