Sony Google TVs Coming Next Month
By Chris Weiss
BusinessWeek reported earlier this week that those rumors of a Google/Sony/Intel/Logitech TV set-up are about to come true. According to its story, Sony will be unveiling televisions and/or Blu-ray players based on the cooperative effort on May 19 and 20 at a Google-sponsored conference in San Fran. When we first heard whispers about the hardware, it sounded like it was months or possibly years down the line, but here we are just a few months later and we expect to see what it’s all about soon.
Google has a new version of Android called Dragonpoint ready for the Sony hardware and Intel is providing a customized Atom chip to run the software. Logitech will be designing the last piece of the puzzle: a keyboard remote that lets you control it all while lying on your back drooling all over your shirt.
The hardware is expected to bring more Internet and offer new ways of searching television, personal media and Internet content. We’ll see you in about three weeks. [via BusinessWeek]
