Sony Ericsson Aspen and Windows Mobile 6.5.3 Launch

Feb 02, 2010 - By Chris Weiss

Sony Ericsson has released its Aspen handset. The business-first mobile features a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, 3.2-megapixel camera, A-GPS with Google Maps, full Qwerty keypad, Wi Fi and microSD expansion. It will be available in black or white silver when it launches in the second quarter of this year.

Not that impressed? More interesting than the phone itself is that it is the first mobile to get Microsoft’s upgraded Windows Mobile 6.5.3. The new update includes a number of touch interface improvements including support for capacitive touchscreens, improved pan and flick gestures, more touch-friendly layout and the ability to serve as a multitouch platform. The new version of WinMo also improves upon browser performance.

Until we finally see the upcoming WinMo 7, we’ll have to settle for the increased performance rolled into this version. [via Engadget]
