Second HP Tablet to Run Android
By Chris WeissYesterday, all most of the hype in the electronics world was devoted to the rumors that Microsoft’s Steve Ballmer would be using his keynote speech for a big tablet unveil. Would it be the fabled MS Courier? Would Microsoft finally upstage Apple, signaling a new dynamic for a new decade? No, no and a little more no.
Instead, we got peripheral information on an HP slate running Windows 7– a nice-looking little computer, but nothing to live up to all the pre-speech hype. PR fail.
Now that the hype has cleared the building, and we’ve seen HP’s Windows slate, TechCrunch is reporting that HP has another tablet device up its sleeve, this one running Android. The company has yet to announce the device as not to upstage Balmer’s “big” moment, and until it does, we don’t know too much about it. However, HP’s tablet-take-two reportedly looks a whole lot like the Microsoft version, but a tad smaller.
Android will open up the device to the app world, where some 10,000 Android apps await. Hopefully, more to come soon. [via TechCrunch]
