samsung e reader Samsung Releases E Reader to Korean Market

The exciting news is that another major electronics manufacturer is entering the e-reader market. The not-so-exciting news is that they’re doing it with a rather low-end, inferior device…and it’s only available in South Korea. The SNE-50K e-book reader features a five-inch touchscreen with stylus and 512 MB of internal storage. Surprisingly, it doesn’t feature any wireless or Internet capabilities, meaning that you’ll have to download books the old fashioned way–at which point you’ll look only slightly more advanced than the dinosaurs shopping for hard copies at the B&N. The e-reader is currently available in South Korea for the equivalent of $270. No word if it will make it’s way over here, but we’re not exactly brimming with anticipation. [WSJ via Engadget]
