To promote what appears to be a completely unrelated product, Samsung showed off a combination of gesture controls and holographic imagery, which is actually the basis of every geek’s childhood fantasy. It’s not clear exactly how the technology worked, but PC World reckons that synchronized, high-definition projectors were used to throw images onto transparent screens. Infrared sensors pick up the presenter’s movements, and the screen images align in such a way as to create a 3D illusion. All of this serves to hype Samsung’s Jet, a smartphone with a 3.1-inch AMOLED touch screen and no holographic technology whatsoever. Bummer. [via PC World and d'strict]
