Samsung 480Hz HDTV May Be Revealed in September

Blurriness begone, as Samsung is reportedly going to reveal a 400/480 Hz HDTV next month, at the IFA 2009 consumer electronics fair in Berlin. The report comes from FlatPanelHD’s inside sources, who say the model on display will be a prototype, one step above Samsung’s existing 200/240 Hz B8000 LED TVs. The higher the refresh rate, the less blurry the image becomes, thanks in part to advanced interpolation methods that frequently accompany high-end sets. To aid the transition between each frame of video, these methods repeat existing frames or create new ones. Samsung’s 480 Hz LCD will use “Black/Dark Frame Insertion,” creating an extremely brief dark flash during the interpolation that “resets” the human eye. Trust me, your eyes like it.
