Rumor: 13-Inch MacBook Redesign Coming

The white, rounded plastic of Apple’s low-end 13-inch MacBooks doesn’t really fit with the rest of the company’s laptop offerings, so I believe the rumors that Apple is preparing a redesign. Unnamed sources tell AppleInsider that we’ll see a slimmer figure, a lighter enclosure and better internals, though no one’s saying when this change will occur. Sure, Apple would prefer that you upgrade to one of the aluminum MacBook Pros, as the company slashed prices in June and upgraded the unibody 13-inch MacBook to “Pro” status. Still, the company’s sole sub-$1,000 offering is doing well, so why not sex it up a little bit? Maybe some of those Laptop Hunters will be given pause. [AppleInsider via Wired]
