Robotic Bed Sounds Dangerous but Brings Only the Best Intentions

Frankly, a robotic bed sounds rather terrifying, bringing visions of razor-sharp metal talons swallowing up your body in a display of automation domination. Much the opposite, this Robotic Bed from Panasonic is designed to help mankind, specifically those with limited mobility who require the use of a wheel chair. The impressive piece of equipment transforms from bed to wheel chair, allowing the individual to get around the house unassisted. The bed even includes a built-in television with the potential to tap into a home network and display security footage and control home appliances. While the bed might not be intended for the terminally lazy, it will certainly appeal to them. Then again, I’m sure it will come with a hefty price tag that those that lie in bed all day playing video games in yesterday’s stained white T with massive Dorito crumbs all over it won’t be able to tackle. It’s set to make an appearance at the Tokyo Big Sight show at the end of the month. [Engadget via Dvice]
