RIM Drops a Blackberry PowerPoint Presentation Device
Wresting its business suit back from LG, RIM unveiled the Blackberry Presenter earlier this week at CES. The new device will allow Blackberry owners to wirelessly transmit Microsoft PowerPoint presentations to an external monitor or projector.
The device outputs video via VGA or S-Video and provides three resolutions: 640 x 480 (VGA), 800 x 600 (SVGA), and 1024 x 768 (XGA). The Presenter offers Loop and Freeze modes when displaying presentations, and a Blackberry Presenter app transforms the Blackberry into a remote control to be used for the presentation.
The Presenter is compatible with Blackberry models that run OS 4.6 or better.
The Blackberry Presenter is a somewhat cumbersome device, weighing over a pound and measuring at 3.4 by 2.4 by 0.9. It’s not cheap either, with a retail price of $200–more expensive than the optional pico projector for the LG eXpo ($180). For that kind of money, you might just want to carry your laptop along to your next meeting. [via PC Mag and Washington Post]
