Rambler Shoes Tweet Your Every Step
By Chris WeissIf you were looking to make a product that builds a little irony around the incessant emptiness of the force we call Twitter, I would have hoped it would be toilet. Automatically tweeting every time you deuce or spray would make a strong message of exactly how utterly pointless sharing your every move with the world is.
Rambler chose a different route, however, in creating a pair of sneakers that automatically tweet out every step that you take. Steps are indicated by a “Tap”, and when your sneakers lay idle by the doorway, the service displays your lack of motion with a series of periods.
The sneakers use a built-in sensor to detect steps and a Bluetooth transmitter that syncs with a cell phone to deliver the Tweets. You can follow Rambler at twitter.com/ramblershoes.
Unfortunately, we’ll probably being seeing more self-tweeting products in the future. What do you think: incisive cultural stab or pointless product that adds to the problem? [via Gizmodo]
