Q Acoustics Speakers Mount to Your Flat Panel TV
By Chris Weiss
One of the great downfalls of the flat-panel television has been the speaker quandary. Use the thin, inferior integrated speakers or negate the slim profile of your television with a gaggle of large, boxy (and expensive) home theater speakers. Sure, speakers have gotten slimmer to better complement ultra-slims, but add-ons still take up space and intrude upon the room.
Q Acoustics is set to unveil a new solution to the speaker dilemma: the Q-TV 2.1 speaker system. Designed to mount directly onto the back of a flat-panel television (30″ to 42″), the system features two speakers and a subwoofer, all packed into a tight, mountable package. The system promises to offer better audio than cheap built-ins without requiring the floor space of stand-alones. The company will be showcasing the new system at CES.
At first blush, the Q-TV system sounds like a great solution to a common problem. However, the audio offered by the 100-watt, 2.1-channel system may or may not be an acceptable improvement over native speakers. If it delivers halfway toward the “dynamic, room filling stereo sound with real bass” that the company advertises, then this system might just be worth picking up. Of course, the price will be the final determinant, and so far it’s unannounced. [Q Acoustics via CrunchGear]
