playstation 3 PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.10 Now Available, With Facebook

As of yesterday, the new firmware 3.10 is available to Sony PS3 users. One of the more anticipated features of the release is its integration of Facebook. The new Facebook icon allows PS3 gamers to boast about their in-game prowess by sending trophy info directly to their Facebook news feed. Gamers will similarly get the option of sending info about PlayStation Store purchases and in-game events, so friends will know your every accomplishment.

PS3 users will have full control over the event info that goes out on Facebook and will have to hit the okay prior to anything going out. According to PSN director Eric Lempel: “We put a lot of things in place to make it really flexible. So you can post what you’d like to post, especially if you’re playing a game that maybe you don’t want all your friends knowing about.”

So don’t worry about your friends getting updates when you decide to play a round or two of your little sister’s copy of Hannah Montana: The Movie on a lonely Sunday afternoon.

Trophy information, on the other hand, goes out automatically when enabled. [via PC World]
