Anybody who’s dealt with it knows that figuring out which paint to use on your walls is a very special and painful kind of hell. Lots of little cans of paint applied to walls, lots of arguments over which shade of blue is more calming even though they’re exactly the same color, lots of nights wondering whether painting a room is really this stressful. Fortunately, there’s an app, a wonderful app, to end this pain.

It’s called Pixelate, and despite the name, it’s actually an app designed to change the colors of various elements in a photo. For example, if you take a picture of a blank wall, Pixelate allows you to change the color of the wall to different shades, and take a look at how the wall would actually appear.

You can grab colors from a picture or from the app’s own color matrix, especially useful when considering several different types of paint. It’s not limited to walls, though. Anything of a mostly solid color can be changed using Pixelate to get a better idea of how it’ll look, such as the blouses in the above photo.

Pixelate is currently available in the App Store for .99 cents. Cheaper than Rolaids, and just as relaxing.
