Palm Stock Drops After Pre Loses iTunes
By Jared Newman
Apparently, the financial industry thinks the Palm Pre’s loss of iTunes support doesn’t bode well, as Palm shares dropped 3 percent on the news. As part of the latest iTunes update, Apple no longer lets the Pre sync automatically, forcing the consumer to either use an older version of the software or ad songs manually. Palm had been touting iTunes sync as a selling point for the Pre, noting in the fine print that this function could change at any time. Now that it has, one analyst is calling the lack of iTunes support a “modest negative” that “could impact some customers’ decisions.” And those who already committed? Look for a workaround or take comfort knowing that Palm is suffering, too. [via Yahoo!]
