Palm Pre Welcoming For-Pay App Developers
Aug 18, 2009 - By Jared Newman
At last, Palm is opening its arms to more app development, accepting applications from developers who believe their apps are worth actual currency. The e-commerce program will launch in mid-September, with Palm taking a 30 percent cut of all sales and giving the rest to developers. Requests to get into that program are being taken now. While you may not be jumping at the idea of spending more money on smartphone programs, the ability for developers to earn money on these apps will only encourage more development. The end result is a more robust App Catalog, as long as we don’t see a flood of sub-par apps trying to rip consumers off a buck at a time. [via Engadget]
