Palm Pre: 300,000 Sold
By Jared Newman
On the strength of the Pre, Palm sold as many phones last month as it did in the entire previous quarter. At least, that’s according to Charter Equity Research analyst Edward Snyder, who pegs total Palm Pre sales at 300,000 since launch. Of course, Snyder’s word isn’t the be-all end-all; Palm itself hasn’t released any numbers, and another analyst, Mike Abramsky at RBC Capital, said a week ago that 150,000 Pres were sold so far. Either way, the numbers are good — not iPhone good, but good nonetheless — especially considering that Palm was posting big quarterly losses before the Pre’s launch. Snyder says Palm is producing 15,000 Pres per day and will ship 1 million of them to Sprint, but no word on whether that amount will meet demand. [New York Times via Wired]
