Onkyo Brings 7.1 Surround to Home Theater Packages
By Jared Newman
Life’s easier when everything’s included in one package, and so it goes with Onkyo’s new home-theater-in-a-box offerings. The HT-S7200 and HT-S6200 both offer 7.1 Surround Sound with Dolby ProLogic IIz decoding, adding “height” to the audio with two speakers placed above the front ones. There’s also audio over HDMI, an improvement over the pass-through HDMI of Onkyo’s previous models. A 10-inch subwoofer booms at 230 watts. The difference between the S7200 and S6200 is fairly minimal, with the higher model including two raised speakers with small subwoofers instead of simple bookshelf speakers, plus a fifth HDMI input over the S6200′s four. For this, you’ll pay $900 instead of $700, and they’re both available now. [via CNet]
