OEM Pricing: Windows 7 For Cheap
Sep 30, 2009 - By Jared Newman
Trying to save money on Windows 7? From now until October 20, you can skim a little off the top by ordering the OEM version through Newegg. It’s the same Windows 7 we’re all anticipating, but it’s intended for computer manufacturers to install on their PCs. In exchange for posing as a smaller version of Dell or Asus, you’ll pay $100 for Windows 7 Home Premium, compared to $120 for the regular upgrade from an existing PC, and more advanced versions of the OS are available as well. The downsides? No technical support, only one copy for one computer, and you’ll have to completely wipe out your hard drive to install. Anything to save a couple bucks, right? [NewEgg via DailyTech]
