Nikon D3s Leaked By British Photography Magazine
By Chris Weiss
Tip of the hat to the British Journal of Photography for outing the unannounced Nikon D3s yesterday. The article describing an editor’s pre-launch experience with the camera was dated for today, but published yesterday, and went into some details on the new Nikon. Interesting camera information taken from the report includes detailing of ISO settings that rise up to 12,800 standard, with a boost mode up to 102, 400. The author also lamented on the D3s’s multimedia capabilities in stating ” what really caught my attention was the seamless interplay of stills and motion, which combined to tell a story using photographs to arrest significant moments and compositions.” He was describing a photo project that had been taken with the D3s. The D3s features a 720p at 24fps HD video capture mode.
The 12.1 MP D3s is expected in the U.K. by December at a price of 4200 pounds (around $6,685). An official announcement from Nikon should be forthcoming–unless some other magazine editor jumps in and provides more information about the camera before Nikon is able to. The camera was also reportedly spotted in Barcelona on a photo shoot alongside a rather sexy model. We wouldn’t mind seeing the interplay of stills and motion on that shoot. [BJP via Engadget]
Update: Nikon officially announced the D3s last night. It will be available in the U.S. in November at an estimated price of $5,199.95 (body only).
