Bring on the jokes about breakfast broadcasts and workout pronouncements, the wisecracks about spammers and social media guru marketers; Twitter wants you to know that there’s more going on. Its updated homepage has dropped the question “What are you doing?” and replaced it with a better idea of what the site is actually about. A search bar lets you see ongoing discussions without signing up, and a list of trending topics tells you what’s on the mass mind. There’s probably a bit of instruction between the lines here, as Twitter is subtly suggesting you stop talking about yourself and start chatting about the world, and what’s happening in it.
