Sony S Series walkman New Sony S Series Walkman Details Leaked

The iconic Sony Walkman has been on its journey from obscurity back to mainstream for some time now, and thanks to a slip-up by French retailer materiel.net, we’ve gotten a closer look at the specs of the latest step of that journey, the upcoming Sony Walkman S-Series. The two models that were prematurely listed for retail, the 8GB Sony NWZ-S544 and the 16GB NWZ-S545, feature 2.4-inch QVGA LCD displays with 16:9 aspect ratio and built in kickstands for desktop use.  As far as audio, Walkman S-series users will get built-in stereo speakers, FM radio with 30 presets, MP3, WMA and AAC support and a built-in microphone. On the video side, the S-series sports H264/AVC, MP4 and WMV video playback at up to 30fps. The S-series doesn’t feature internet connectivity or YouTube playback like the X-series but is a cheaper, entry-level PMP option. Run time is cited at 42 hours for music and 6.5 for video. The price listed for the 8-gig version was 129 Euros or around $183 and the 16-gig at 149 Euros or around $211. [via Slash Gear and PC World]
