Google Phone

The buzz around the Google phone has been heating up and Google isn’t making any effort to keep it under wraps. Over the weekend, Google employees made a stir when they started lighting up Twitter stating that they were testing a new Android phone. Google followed up by posting a blog about how it was testing new hardware, which we’ve come to know as the Nexus One. And like any good news story, leaked photos and info followed.

The speculated details we’ve garnered so far:

The Nexus One will run Android 2.1. It’ll be an unlocked GSM phone and Google will be offering it directly to consumers without your typical mobile carrier subsidy, although T-Mobile is thought to be a carrier in the mix. It could hit the market as early as next month. Some of the speculated specs include an OLED display, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and a longer, thinner profile than the iPhone.

We’re sure that we’ll be hearing a lot more about this one in the coming days/weeks. We’ll see how much of the rumors hold true. [via PC World]
