irex New E Reader Coming from iRex and Barnes and Noble

Though e-books have yet to hit the mainstream, Amazon, Sony and others will soon have more competition in iRex and Barnes & Noble. Netherlands-based iRex plans to launch an e-reader in the United States later this year with an 8.1-inch touch screen, a stylus for navigation and 3G connectivity. Barnes & Noble, which has been building an e-book store since July, will provide the reading material. The big unanswered question is price, as the high price tags of e-readers have so far driven most people away — though screen supplier E Ink says more than one e-million readers from various companies are using its technology. Let’s hope for a price war. [via Wired]
