New Canon PowerShots Revealed
By Chris Weiss
Though some inquiring minds were wondering about the glaring lack of new DSLRs among the slew of new point-and-shoots announced by Canon today, there is plenty to be excited about with the next generation of PowerShots alone. Six new models were introduced: the SX20 IS, SX120 IS, G11, , S90, SD980 IS and SD940 IS. The biggest news of the day was the reintroduction of the S series in the form of the pocket-sized S90, which includes 28mm-equivalent wide-angle f/2.0 lens with a 3.8x optical zoom, customizable control ring right around the lens and RAW+JPEG capture. Some other interesting changes include lessening of the megapixels on the G11 to 10MP (14.7 on the G10) to reduce noise, return to an articulated LCD on the G11 and touchscreen on the SD980 IS. The new cameras will begin hitting stores in October. [via CNET]
